Mars so Close, yet so Far

Currently Mars is the closest it will be from Planet Earth now for thirteen years. This is great news for astronomers and those studying the Red Planet. But still we need to make a few point about the use of the world close. You see it is still over 43 million miles away you see and that is a very long distance and costly trip if you were to drive your SUV that at the current gasoline prices.

Amateur back yard telescope astronomers will be able to get a really good look at Mars for about the next month or so, but there best time will be on Halloween. Very exciting indeed and observatories will be able to see the surface of the Planet extremely well during this time. In August of 2003 Mars was about 35 million miles away, which would have been the closest in approximately 60,000 years. If you look up now you will see it very high in our sky in the Northern Hemisphere unlike that of August 2003, which makes it even a better treat when there is no full moon or light pollution.

Currently there is a huge dust storm going on as well which is quite interesting, which is fascinating scientists and astronomers. This is going to be one terrific Halloween indeed. Think on this.
